Medik8 C E Thione - My product Review

CE-Thione is the latest addition to Medik8's Vitamin C range. The potent, water-based (finally!!) Vitamin C serum helps protect the skin against free radicals (the main cause of photo-ageing) throughout the day, while minimising the formation of dark spots for a visibly brighter skin tone and an improved texture and firmness.

The Medik8 concept of Rechargeable Vitamin C™ ensures every drop of Vitamin C in the serum is fresh and powerful, providing best results that Vitamin C can deliver. Potent Vitamin C is clinically proven to have anti-ageing benefits.

- Builds collagen which helps to improve the appearance of skin tone, texture and fine lines
- Helps neutralise free radicals providing antioxidant protection
- water based and easier to absorb (not oil based)
- Contains stable highly concentrated potent vitamin c

Antioxidant (vitamin C) products are probably my number one most important products to have in a skincare regime, and obviously alongside a sunscreen every morning. These products will provide antioxidant protection throughout the day, helping to prevent premature skin ageing.

What is important is getting the right one that has a good delivery system, stability, etc. because vitamin C is very unstable and degrades very quickly so it can lose its effectiveness when applied to the skin.

I wasn’t sure about trying the new medik8 CE-Thione serum because I love my Skinceuticals antioxidants, except for the price!
Carly from Skinbrands said that she was using it and thought it was amazing, so I thought I would give it a go.

Initially when you apply a few drops and work it into the skin, it does feel a bit sticky and it does have a funny smell! But after five minutes it doesn’t feel sticky at all, and my face just feels soft and with no smell at all. I haven’t reacted to it at all and have no breakouts or irritation, but I have noticed that my skin feels a lot smoother.

I cannot comment on the collagen effects of medik8 CE-Thione because it is way too soon to say as it takes around six weeks for new collagen, but I actually really like it.

Medik8 CE-Thione is not the cheapest vitamin C serum on the market – but it is highly concentrated, stable and it is effective. Also remember that most other vitamin C serums are applied twice a day, so don’t last as long.
2 x 15ml costs £81. Based on my own usage I think this should last about 3 months (store in the fridge).

If you cannot afford Skinceuticals antioxidants or want a change but you want the same kind of effects and delivery system then I would try medik8 CE-Thione.

I still love my Skinceuticals antioxidants, but maybe I will alternate between them now.
