Enlarged pores are a common concern for many women of all ages and skin types, especially for those with oily and combination skin. The good news is that there are ways to minimise their appearance and smooth out your complexion.
Large pores appear mainly around the nose because the area has more oil glands than the other areas the oil and debris on the skin increases the pore size.
Also as we age our pores enlarge, natural growth of the underlying oil glands occurs, along with diminishment of collagen, consequently the ducts compress, allowing the oil glands to rise to the surface of the skin.
Sun damage may also cause enlarged pores. The sun’s harmful rays cause the skin to thicken and the skin cells may collect around the pores which makes pores appear larger. Also as we know the sun damages the collagen and elastin in the skin and as a result the skin loses its elasticity and the pores enlarge because there is no collagen to keep them tight and small. Once the collagen and elastin in your skin is damaged the pores will begin to enlarge.
In proper skincare is another major contributor to enlarged pores. If you don’t remove your makeup in the evening, don’t cleanse and exfoliate your face skin regularly you are
more likely to have enlarged pores. Exfoliating daily to remove the dead skin cells, otherwise the surface oil and the dead cells may collect around your pores and make them appear large,
by keeping them clear the pores can shrink in size. You need to be using products daily that contain AHA’s or BHA’s to help loosen dirt and dead skin from clogged pores.
A consistent and good home skin care regimen is your best remedy to reduce the size of large and visible pores on your face.
It is important to note that continued use of AHA’s is required in order to maintain skins smooth, even toned and healthy appearance.
