For those prone to pigmentation, it will always be worse during the summer months. As it is mostly at that time of year that pigmentation shows itself, I thought I would provide some pigmentation skin health tips. I have some great new products to tell you about too!

Protecting your legs while travelling.
More and more people are flying long distances and having to remain seated for long periods of time. When movement is constrained, the blood circulation in the legs is restricted. This situation can lead to several common symptoms such as heavy legs, leg pain and swollen feet and ankles. Prolonged sitting is also a major risk factor for development of phlebitis and thrombosis (blood clot formation). The discomfort applies to other types of long distance travel such as car, train or bus as well.
A simple and comfortable way to help relieve the symptoms of heavy legs, leg pain, swollen feet and ankles during travel is to wear SIGVARIS TRAVENO socks.

My pigmentation tips:
- The most important product to use is a sunscreen daily with an SPF factor of 30 or 50.
- Apply a pigmentation lightening product twice daily to the area (containing ingredients like Kojic Acid, Alpha-Arbutin, Phytic acid, SabiWhite, skin brightening peptides, Vitamin C, Azelaic Acid, Liquorice and Mulberry).
- Apply Vitamin C every morning after cleansing, then follow with a lightening product.
Antioxidant (Vitamin C) safeguards the skin from photo-ageing by preventing the formation of free radicals & also helps reduce melanin formation in the skin (skin pigment).
- Using exfoliants (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid) can also help fade pigmentation by speeding up cell turnover and accelerating the natural peeling of pigmented or dead skin cells and stimulating new skin cell growth. Maybe use a cleanser & moisturiser which contains AHA’s.
- Use Retinol at night if your pigmentation is stubborn as it increases cell turnover and exfoliation.
