New Products out:

Joe Lewis and Joe DiNardo, the renowned cosmeceutical research scientists behind the PRIORI® brand who introduced Alpha Hydroxy Acids in 1983, Idebenone in 2004 and CoffeeBerry® in 2008, have added a new step in the fight against premature ageing and a technological breakthrough that helps make eyelashes and eyebrows look fuller, thicker and more voluptuous – Lash Recovery Serum with Triple Lipopeptide Complex™. Lash Recovery Serum utilises a unique Triple Lipopeptide Complex™ that stimulates hair follicle sites to enhance the appearance of length and thickness of eyelashes and has been clinically tested to enhance lashes in only two weeks. Clinically studies revealed up to a 27.75% increase in eyelash density after two weeks of use, and up to 56.01% after six weeks.

The new formulation of RevitaLash now available
The new RevitaLash-ADVANCED product has been in research and development at Athena Cosmetics for over 3 years. In the final ADVANCED formulation, improvements have been made to the functional cosmetic ingredients, including the addition of a proprietary prostaglandin analogue molecule as well as various changes in the proportionate ratios between the different functional cosmetic ingredients. Just in the last 6 months, an extensive regime of clinical safety testing and cosmetic efficacy studies were finished, showing how safe the product is and how quickly the ADVANCED formula works to improve the beauty and attractiveness of the eyelashes. The test results were so impressive that RevitaLash decided not to “wait” to introduce the product to the marketplace, but rather, to bring it out now.

The team at Skinbrands have given their feedback about the new formula. Beverley’s eyelashes are as long as they have ever been and Tracey’s, although will always be less than amazing, are better than they have been in the last twenty years.

Pigmentation tips

After the summer, some of you may need some tips for treating pigmentation. Yes, the sunshine we had last week!!
Hyperpigmentation, or skin discolouration, affects almost everyone over time. Pigmented spots often appear as a result of sun exposure, heat, medication, hormones, acne breakout or a post-inflammatory reaction to a skin injury. The good news is that there are products and technologies that can reduce and sometimes reverse hyperpigmentation altogether.
So why do these spots appear? The pigment is produced within the skin by cells called melanocytes that help your body’s immune system. When the skin is attacked by any of the factors mentioned above, these melanocytes go into a hyper-function and produce pigment in the skin.
Although skin pigmentation is, in most cases harmless, many people seek treatment for cosmetic reasons. Wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen is the most important factor in preventing skin pigmentation however there are a wide variety of treatments for pigmentation like IPL/Laser, dermal rolling, chemical peels & cell therapy. However, the less invasive way is non-prescription topical skincare products.

Ingredients used in treating hyperpigmentation:

Kojic Acid – it is derived from a variety of different fungi and organic substances such a soy and mushrooms. Kojic Acid is one of the most successful and natural skin whitening agents. Studies indicate that kojic acid is more effective than hydroquinone and without irritations or long term complications, which is associated with hydroquinone. It inhibits the production of melanin.

Arbutin – derived from the leaves of bearberry, cranberry, mulberry or blueberry shrub. It inhibits tyrosinase and thus prevents the formation of melanin. Arbutin also protects the skin against damage caused by free radicals.

Pigment enhancing additives oftentimes include a topical Vitamin A (Retinol) and or AHA’S (glycolic acid), which enhances & evens skin tone by assisting in the breaking up and breaking down of pigment within skin layers and aiding full penetration. Also by adding Vitamin C & E will inhibit the production of melanin, stimulate collagen, has a brightening effect & has the added benefit of its anti-oxidant effect.
The natural skin lightening treatments can be used long term and are designed for regular use. Lightening products should be applied for at least 3 months so that the effect can be completed. Results can be observed during the first 3-4 weeks.
