Where to Spend Money in Your Skincare Routine

Where to Spend Money in Your Skincare Routine

Some individuals can only afford the economical choice every time, while others can indulge in luxury. However, the majority of people will find themselves in between, opting for budget-friendly products but also willing to invest a bit more in certain items.

In this blog post,  I will be showcasing the products that are worth the extra expenditure to maximize the benefits of your skincare routine.

I am going to start with the products I think you should be investing in the most.
This is general advice and some people with specific skin issues or conditions will need to prioritise things in a different order.

serum

Worth every penny

It is crucial to emphasize the significance of your serum. It holds the utmost importance in your skincare routine as it typically contains the highest concentration of active ingredients. Among all the products you use, the serum exerts the most effort and often brings about a transformative effect on your skin. If you can only allocate your budget for one high-quality product, it is advisable to invest in a good serum. Serums are available for various purposes such as antioxidant, hydration, reducing redness, and addressing other specific concerns. Your serum is usually the product that caters to your skin's unique needs at any given time, so it is essential to choose wisely.

cleanse

Cleansers

My advice would be to spend on your treatment cleanser and save on your cleanser to remove your makeup.

When choosing a cleanser you must select a formula that suits your skin type.
I like to use an exfoliating cleanser, as they are multi-tasking powerhouses that cleanse and exfoliate skin at the same time.
Chemical exfoliating cleansers help remove dead skin cells together with dirt and grime in one go, leaving a fresher & smoother complexion.

 eye

Eye Creams

I know a lot of people don’t believe in eye cream.
However, for those who do believe in its benefits, it is crucial to choose a high-quality product. The skin under the eyes is extremely delicate, so it is important to select a cream that is free from any potential irritants and is gentle on the skin. This is especially important if you are considering a cream that contains retinol for its anti-aging properties, as it may be worth investing a bit more money in such a product. And remember you only use a very small amount, so a jar can last a while.
However, if you are still young, you may opt to forgo the use of eye cream and instead apply your serum or moisturiser beneath your eyes, as long as it doesn't cause any irritation.

moisturiser

Moisturiser

The age-old advice of "cleanse, tone, and moisturise" has been ingrained in us, but in reality, an effective skincare routine involves more than just these three steps. The additional steps, such as using serums are the ones that truly make a difference. If you do not incorporate serums into your routine, then investing in a multi-tasking moisturiser that offers more than just hydration would be a great addition.
However, if you already have a good serum, a basic moisturiser will suffice for providing a little extra hydration most of the time.

spf

SPF

Finally the most important step, the only step you cannot avoid!

The importance of daily sunscreen wearing SPF every day – rain or shine – is one of the best ways to protect your skin and keep it healthy.
It’s thought that solar exposure – also known as “photo ageing” – causes up to 80% of skin aging.

You need to be wearing SPF, and make sure it’s broad spectrum and at least SPF30 or above.
If you suffer from pigmentation then I would advise using an SPF50 or above sunscreen.
You may have to try a couple of different products to find the one that suits your skin type, concerns, and routine.
Some ways to save - Why not incorporate SPF into your daily moisturiser or your makeup by using a tinted sunscreen instead of your foundation.
