Anti-ageing

Welcome to our May 2012 Newsletter

Dear All,

Keeping you up to date with new products, ranges & special offers on our website www.dermacaredirect.co.uk.
I will throw in some of my skincare tips as well!

May is Melanoma and Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month, so I will be giving you tips on choosing an antioxidant as an addition to your sunscreen to keep you fully protected.

What’s new?

SKINN, the award-winning skincare range for men have brought out a new product.
SKINN Hair wax With Beeswax
SKINN HAIR WAX reduces dandruff formation and contains agents to improve hair protection and moisturisation.

I am pleased to announce another addition to our range of cosmeceutical products - the INNO-DERMA range. In their formulations, INNO-DERMA products include innovative active ingredients in optimum concentrations and form in order to obtain excellent results. They are used in various treatments including anti-ageing, de-pigmentation, and firming treatments. Finally, they include products for cleansing, hydration and sun protection.

Prices of some of our (mainly older) Skinceuticals products have had to be increased.
Skin brands, the only UK distributor of Skinceuticals products is asking all the official UK stockists to sell their products at the suggested retail prices, enabling them to better protect the brand. So please don’t be tempted to buy from eBay or Amazon just because they may be cheaper as Skinbrands does not and will not supply any of these sellers. With the increase of fake products on the market, it may be wise to question where these eBay and Amazon products are actually coming from and exactly who you are buying from! If you are in any doubt, please call or email Skinbrands and they can confirm whether any sellers are genuine, approved European stockists or not. You really do need to be wary of where you buy your skincare products from; not only to make sure you get the real thing but also to ensure you are getting the right advice & support with them.

My Skincare Tip – The importance of an antioxidant.

The regular application of skincare products containing antioxidants can be very beneficial, especially in combination with sunscreen, in protecting against the damaging effects of the sun.
An antioxidant helps to promote skin rejuvenation by reversing free radical damage caused by the sun and natural ageing. It also aids in stimulating collagen production within the skin and may also help lighten sunspots.
The benefits of antioxidants go far beyond their effects on keeping the skin healthy. It has been suggested that consumption of antioxidants can play a key role in the prevention of cancer.

What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are chemicals produced naturally that can help to prevent and repair damage to your body's tissue. There are many factors that can affect your skin in harmful ways. Elements such as air pollution, cigarette smoke and sunshine are culprits that act against the skin by damaging it. Antioxidants help by slowing or preventing the effect of these free radicals, which start oxidation - a process that causes damage from oxygen that can lead to cell dysfunction. If you've seen a peeled apple turn brown, you've seen oxidation in action. As antioxidants block the effects of free radicals, they end up being oxidized. This is why it is important to constantly replenish your supply of antioxidants. In addition to helping fortify cells against free radicals, antioxidants also encourage cell and tissue growth, by helping to produce Collagen helping to fight fine lines and wrinkles.

Therefore, not only is it important to apply a sunscreen daily to prevent premature ageing and skin cancer, but also to apply an antioxidant to protect you from environmental damage that can also accelerate ageing and even contribute to skin cancer.
Topical Vitamin C is the most popular antioxidant.
So what can Vitamin C do for us?
- Protect skin cells and the skin’s support structure from UV-related damage
- Improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin
- Strengthen skin’s barrier response
- Reduce inflammation
- Promote collagen production
- Lessen hyperpigmentation
- Boost the efficacy of sunscreen actives
vitamin C is a proven, beneficial addition to your skincare regimen.

When it comes to choosing the best antioxidants, Skinceuticals always comes out on top.

We are official stockists of all our products. Please beware of fake or counterfeit products on eBay and unauthorised stockists websites.
There are a lot of sites out there slashing prices. If it looks too good to be true it probably is!
We also give professional & personal advice, unlike other skincare sites.
