PCA Skin Brightening Retinol (0.5 %)

Andreas Review

This advanced formulation delivers potent ingredients deep into the skin through a patented OmniSome delivery system. Retinol, Niacinamide and Hexylresorcinol produce radiance from within while promoting an even skin tone.

Additional actives smooth the skin’s surface, while Niacinamide minimises redness and yellowing of the complexion. An overall glow and even skin tone is the result with nightly use of this breakthrough Retinol formulation.

- Retinol: stimulates cell turnover and renewal to smooth and soften skin

- Resveratrol: a potent antioxidant that encourages a bright, even skin tone

- Niacinamide: reduces excess oil production and lightens discolouration to brighten skin

- Hexylresorcinol: reduces inflammation and promotes an even skin tone

When I used PCA Skin Brightening Retinol nightly, I found it was too much for me, even though I have pretty much old and toughened skin!

My skin was flaky and dry and sore around my eyes when I used it nightly. I’m not sure why but my eyes became sore even though I did not apply it around or near my eyes. Maybe it transfers towards the eyes at night whilst sleeping..?

I have been using PCA Skin Brightening Retinol every other night, and I can say that I have certainly noticed a difference in the pigmentation on my forehead, even after only 3 or 4 weeks of use and it has definitely faded the pigmentation.

Maybe after a few more weeks, I will be able to step up to applying it every night without suffering from the peeling, in order to obtain the full benefit.

I like the fact that this product contains Niacinamide which is great to help with pigmentation.

Despite the peeling, I can honestly say this is one of my favourite Retinol products I have tested so far!

I do really like the PCA Retinols as they have 4 different choices in their range for different skin types/concerns.

There is one for sensitive skin types; one called Intensive Clarity Retinol for acne skin types which contains Retinol and Salicylic Acid; and also an anti-ageing variant called Intensive Age Refining Treatment.

Make sure you begin using this by applying it twice weekly at night initially, then in the second week, every other night. It is also important to apply a moisturiser afterwards.
