Well summer is here or is it? I don’t think I have worn any of my summer clothes yet. Not that I can fit into them after having another baby!

Skinceuticals NEW Sheer Mineral UV Defense SPF50 sunscreen


I was very excited when I heard Skinceuticals was bringing out a new SPF 50 with mineral rather than chemical filters – Skinceuticals Sheer Mineral Defense SPF50. Skinceuticals has always been my favourite when it comes to sunscreens and antioxidant serums because of all the medical research into sun damage they do.

Did you know that up to 90% of visible changes commonly attributed to ageing are caused by sun exposure?

Traditionally mineral-based sunscreens have been found to be unappealing, often sticky, heavy and became pasty with higher SPF protection.

Skinceuticals Sheer Mineral UV Defense SPF50 is the first daily use high broad-spectrum UV protection product on the market that is paraben-free, with 100% mineral UV filters, that overcomes these challenges by offering breakthrough formulation technology without compromising safety and protection.

Here are my Skincare Tips:



Total protection Skincare tips – An antioxidant is a must

Antioxidant serums have been proven to benefit the skin. Antioxidant serums fight free radicals, repair collagen damage, and help sun-damaged skin.
Adding an antioxidant serum to your skincare routine can also enhance your sunscreen's protection.

Effectively formulated antioxidants can help neutralise UV induced free radicals not blocked by sunscreens.

Protecting the skin from UV light is essential for the prevention of premature ageing and skin cancers.


The level of protection provided is defined as its sun protection factor (SPF) protection from UV light.

However, they don’t protect you from the damaging effects of free radicals. Free radicals are natural by-products that can be triggered by pollutants, sunlight, stress, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. If left untreated, free radicals damage surrounding healthy cells, break down collagen, accelerate ageing and even contribute to skin cancer.

Using an antioxidant treatment and broad-spectrum sunscreen can be one of the most effective ways to protect yourself from premature ageing and to improve existing environmental damage to your skin.



Skinceuticals are known for their antioxidant serums but remember always to go for what you can afford because you need to stick with your skincare regime. Go to the website, click on your skin type & then click on step 2 for a topical antioxidant serum.

Tips

Antioxidant serums are more preventive, so you may not see visible results right away, especially if your skin is in good shape.

Wear serum in the morning before your sunscreen and wait until the serum is dry before applying sunscreen.
