Why do we get Ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hair (also called razor bumps) is generally not a serious skin care problem, but it can be unsightly , painful and very bothersome for men and even for women. It can cause scarring, redness and swelling (its medical term is Pseudofolliculitis Barbae or PFB).

They result:

when the hair follicle becomes clogged with dead skin cells, which makes the hair inside grow sideways under the skin.

Hairs that have curled around and grown back into your skin instead of upwards and outwards

Shaving too close or uneven will result in the sharpened end of the hair piercing the skin, causing an ingrown hair.

Ingrown hairs can be a particular problem in areas where you may shave – such as the beard area in men, and the legs, armpits and bikini area in women. The condition is most prevalent among people who have coarse or curly hair.
