Which Eye Shadow Colour Will Compliment My Eyes Best ?

eye shadow

No matter what your eye colour is, you can make them sparkle from a million miles away with the right eye shadow on. There really is a science to it and particular shades definitely work better on certain eye colours than others to make them ‘pop’. If you think of a colour wheel, they help to show you what colours work best together. So, the general rule is that if you partner two colours opposite to one another on the wheel then, you’ve got an ideal match.

No matter whether you have blue, hazel, green or brown eyes- there is a perfect eye shadow for you.

If your eyes are green...

Colours: purples, rose golds, browns

Your eyes are naturally bright and so, adding too many bright shadows can sometimes overwhelm your eyes. A staple, brown eye shadow blended through your eyelid crease will prevent the focus being taken off your striking eyes but still give you some definition. A beautiful, muted purple shadow is the ideal colour to make green eyes pop- Jane Iredale Dazzle & Shine Eyeshadow Kit is perfect to make this happen. If you don’t feel confident enough to pull off a complete purple shadow then instead you could create your very own purple eyeliner instead for a minimal but effective finish. Simply use delilah Angled Liner Brush to precisely apply the eye shadow as close to the upper lash line as possible and then, at the end of the lash line, flick upwards to elongate your eye shape. Wet your liner brush slightly to get a sharper finish.

If your eyes are brown...

Colours: nudes, pale pinks, bronze golds

Lucky for you, brown eyes are very versatile and can pull off pretty much any eye shadow you love with ease. Go heavy on the eye shadow, if you like, as your eyes can take it! Of course, as always there is a selection of colours that will work better than the rest. To really create a statement, go for pinks and bronzey golds as seen within the delilah Colour Intense Eyeshadow Palette. Those with brown eyes, usually, have darker facial features too so really accentuate this by adding a rich, black eyeliner to the upper lash line and water line then, style your eyebrows too for the ultimate look.

If your eyes are hazel...

Colours: soft metallics, warm browns, greens

Hazel eyes can mostly appear brown but are actually a mix of both green and brown shades so you can follow either rules from previously (or the one that you prefer the sound of). However, delicate and soft metallic shades can bring out the magical flecks of colour in your eyes. delilah Colour Intense Eyeshadow Palette and it’s cool toned shades would suit your eyes best. Dampen your brush slightly prior to application to really maximise the appearance of the metallic shades. Sweep all over the lid or create a spotlight effect by applying only within the inner corners or very centre of the lid.

If your eyes are blue...

Colours: peaches, pinks and a dark smoky eye

Striking blues eyes can play around with a lot of different colours. An ultra dark, smoky eye will make your blue eyes appear prominent and noticeable whilst the whites of your eyes will look crystal clear. All eyes will be on you! However, for a softer and easier to wear look, choose corals, peaches and pinks like in Jane Iredale Dazzle & Shine Eyeshadow Kit. A fail safe option is always a brown all over the lid to make your delicate eye colour remain the centre of attention.

Finally, don’t forget to finish the look with a mascara of your choice and a gel eyeliner to really intensify things!

Now wondering how to apply your eye shadow to make the most out of your eye shape? Or, not sure on what your eye shape is?
