Anti-ageing / Sunscreens

Summer is finally here!!

Sun

Regardless of age and skin type (whether or not you burn easily), the American Academy of Dermatology recommends that everyone, adults and kids alike, apply a water-resistant sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays every day of the year. Yes, even in winter and on cloudy days! Choose a sunscreen that is at least SPF 20 or above.
Sunlight not only increases the risk of skin cancer, but it is also a major cause of skin ageing.

NO SUN EXPOSURE

This Buddhist Monk entered his monastery aged 2. His visible ageing is mostly due to intrinsic factors like gravity and genetics. He is 92 years old in this photo!

LIFE LONG SUN EXPOSURE

old

By contrast, this Native American woman is showing effects of extrinsic ageing: sun exposure, lack of sun protection, lifestyle (stress, smoking, etc.). She is only 65 years old in this photo!

Have a great summer, but make sure you apply your sunscreen!
