Medik8 Press & Glow - Product Review

Medik8 Press & Glow

Experience the power of next-generation exfoliating polyhydroxy acids (PHAs) with Press & Glow; the hydrating acid toner that helps to exfoliate the surface of the complexion for a noticeable everyday glow.

Next-gen PHA (polyhydroxy acid) gluconolactone is proven to be super hydrating - say a firm goodbye to flaky, sensitised skin that can sometimes arise after using exfoliating acids over time, it helps to create a perfected skin surface which is not only better at absorbing active ingredients like vitamin C and A but also creates a better base for makeup. Press & Glow can be used every day, twice a day, leaving the skin visibly glowing, hydrated, and soothed.

Daily glowing skin is the ultimate skincare goal. When we get older, our skin cell regeneration cycle slows down as we begin to deplete in natural exfoliation enzymes. AHAs and BHAs are key ingredients renowned for encouraging cell renewal, however, used every day at high strengths they can impair the skin barrier leading to sensitised skin. This is especially important to consider for vitamin A users who are already getting regular cell renewal. Overuse of AHAs and BHAs can potentially lead to reactions within the skin.

Medik8 saw an opportunity for a new innovative acid formula that caters to the desire for skincare acids, every day, twice a day. This is why they decided to make a PHA-based toner which is perfect for everyday use, in conjunction with vitamin A, to refine skin texture and keep congestion at bay without over sensitising the skin. It also helps to gently lift the appearance of hyperpigmentation and can brighten the skin surface.

Kate Press and Glow review

Kate's Review

Designed with sensitive skin and Vitamin A users, Medik8 Press & Glow Toner helps to gently exfoliate the surface of the skin to reveal a noticeable everyday glow. It's formulated with PHA 5.5% Gluconolactone, which act's as a moisture magnet to help hydrate skin while the surface of the skin is exfoliated with no irritation.

I had been suffering from Maskne and hormonal breakouts on my jawline which were becoming more persistent so I was looking for something to help with this. Since my skin is dry, sensitive, and Rosacea prone it doesn't tolerate AHA's easily, so the Medik8 Press & Glow was just what I was looking for.

The significant difference between PHA’s and AHA’s is that Alpha hydroxy is a single strand molecule allowing for quick penetration into the skin. Polyhydroxy acids however have more hydroxyl (OH) groups making their molecular structure larger, so the penetration is slower giving gentler absorption. Press & Glow also contains active ingredients Aloe Vera, Açai extract, and Prickly Pear extract that work alongside the PHA's to improve skin clarity, luminosity whilst being soothing and calming to the skin.

I found using the Press & Glow really easy, after I've double cleansed I simply press a cotton pad down 3-4 times to pump the product onto the pad, then sweep over my skin, avoiding the delicate eye area. I've been using both morning and evening and have not experienced any dryness or irritation.

Since using my skin has been glowing, feels smooth and dewy. I like how it prepares my skin nicely for the rest of my skincare routine. I did notice a little purging at the beginning, which is a normal response sometimes when adding a new skincare active. Purging happens when dead skin cells are removed, it loosens trapped sebum and debris, which can rise to the skin surface and cause blemishes. This is actually a beneficial process and has cleared up quickly with continued use of my Press & Glow resulting in much clearer skin as the outcome. The spots I had on my chin and jawline cleared and healed quickly but overall my skin complexion was left looking luminous!

Medik8 Press & Glow is the perfect match for those even with sensitive skin, who want to achieve true daily exfoliation while keeping the skin barrier healthy.

In addition to it being a great product for Vitamin A users and sensitive skin I just love the fact, you can purchase a refill. Medik8 advises that the pump may be used on x5 Press & Glow Refills before disposal in your usual bin. You can recycle the bottle and cap alongside your household recycling.
