An ingrown hair is actually a hair that curls back on itself and starts growing back into the follicle, or a hair that fails to grow out of the follicle and stays embedded in the skin. Ingrown hairs can affect the face, neck, legs, or any part of the body. They are usually just minor irritations, but can be painful or unsightly. Moreover, if they are left untreated, ingrown hairs can become infected. If you shave regularly, you may have to deal with ingrown hairs quite frequently.

Treatment:

Salicylic acid is the one active substance that can visibly improve razor bumps. It is a dermatological-grade ingredient that exfoliates, moisturises, clears pores and can help prevent infection. Use a post-shave product with salicylic acid so it remains on your skin the whole day.
Another popular product which is very effective is Papulex oil free cream or gel as it contains antibacterial ingredients & Nicotinamide which reduces inflammation.

Daily skincare:

Exfoliating will help your skin cells shed faster, prevent dead skin cells from building up, and keep hair follicles clear. Exfoliating regularly is indispensable to manage ingrown hairs and to prevent new ingrown hairs. Daily use of products that contain glycolic acid, lactic acid or salicylic acid is particularly effective.
