Tancream began through co-founder Gillian Robson who personally fought and survived skin cancer herself. Skin cancer is sadly the fastest growing cancer in the UK and the most common in woman between ages 15–35. Wearing a high factor sunscreen every day significantly reduces your risk of both premature skin ageing and skin cancer.

Gillian very much enjoyed the sun and sporting a natural, deep tan but realised, after her diagnosis and her doctor advising her to wear a high protection sunscreen all year round, that she needed to change her habits, fast. She began to use fake tan instead to mimic and maintain her colour but started to get very tired of applying all of her different products separately and so from there tirelessly searched the internet for a product that did everything – with of course - no luck. So then, the idea of Tancream was born.

Developed with help from leading UK skin experts, a product like this had never been formulated before due to the differences in the active ingredients involved – sunscreen and tanning agents. However, they were up for the challenge as they knew how important it was to create such a formula for the ever growing skincare market.

 

Thankfully, many people have now learnt of the risks of UV rays and skip hours of sunbathing for a tan straight out of the bottle but still miss out on the vital stage of daily sunscreen application, that will protect the long term, as it ruins their tan. So, this is for them.

Here, this photograph has been taken under a UV camera that reveals what is not always visible to the naked eye. For this study, adequate sunscreen should appear opaque black on the skin. On the right side, the skin has no product on and is therefore vulnerable to all UV rays. Then, on the left side, you can see that Tancream has been applied containing UVA/UVB 5* SPF 50 and is blocking UV rays entirely from attacking the skin.

Tancream can be used on the face and the body – no need for two separate products! It is also ultra-hydrating, leaving the skin soft and supple so, you can do without the extra stage of moisturising too (unless you love your body moisturiser, then you can definitely continue to use it prior to applying Tancream!).

Apply directly to the skin immediately after cleansing either with your hands or by using Jane Iredale Magic Mitt if you prefer a tanning mitt instead, just ensure that you wash your hands thoroughly afterwards with both techniques.
