How to use ?

You can start applying silicone gels & sheets to your scar once your wound has completely healed and there is no longer any bleeding or scabbing. Typically this takes around 3 weeks, although this duration can differ from one patient to another. If you had stitches for your incision or injury, you should also wait until they are either removed or have dissolved (in the case of dissolvable stitches). Even for scars that are significantly older (1-3 years or more), using silicone gel may still provide benefits.

SILICONE SHEETS

  1. Clean both the scar and the skin around it
  2. Peel off the plastic film both sides & place the tacky side of the sheet directly onto the scar. The gel sheeting should fully cover the scar and extend ¼ inch all the way around the scar border. You can cut the silicone to size if needed.
  3. Keep it on for 12-24 hours each day
  4. Take it off, wash with mild soap, and let it air dry

Looking after your sheets

As Epi-Derm sheeting can be applied to clean skin for a maximum of 12 hours, it is crucial to ensure sheeting is thoroughly cleaned after each use.

Following each 12-hour application, or even after a shorter duration, the sheeting should be washed using an antibacterial hand soap, eliminating any debris or sweat that may have accumulated during use.

Epi-Derm sheeting is designed to be thick and durable, making it resilient enough to endure regular washing. By properly washing and caring for your sheeting, it will have a longer lifespan compared to other products.

SILICONE GELS

  1. Wash the scar area thoroughly (Don’t apply serums or moisturisers prior)
  2. Apply a very thin layer of silicone gel twice each day
  3. Wait 5 minutes for it to dry completely – don’t rub it in.
  4. If the gel does not dry completely within five minutes, it means you have applied too much. Gently wipe off the excess and let the remaining thin layer finish drying.
  5. You can apply makeup / SPF right over the dried gel

Medical silicone should be applied to your scars for a duration of 2-3 months. This period is typically when patients experience the most favorable outcomes in their scar treatment process. However, since each person's skin varies and scars heal differently, some individuals may notice improvements before the suggested 2-3 months. For silicone gel to work effectively, it needs to be used daily for 12-24 hours.
