SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF - Andrea's review

I was very lucky to be able to try the NEW SkinCeuticals Silymarin CF prior to the official launch last week!

I am a huge SkinCeuticals antioxidant fan, so was really looking forward to trying this new release of skin care products.

To be honest, I am surprised that SkinCeuticals did not create an antioxidant for blemish-prone skin before now, as they are best known for their highest quality antioxidant ingredients and formulations.

Silymarin CF is formulated with 15% L-ascorbic acid (pure vitamin C antioxidant) and 0.5% Ferulic acid, so provides excellent environmental and visible skin ageing protection.

It also contains Salicylic acid, which is renowned as the go-to ingredient for acne-prone skin.

I haven't got oily or blemish-prone skin but as you may know, Salicylic acid is a great exfoliant and especially effective for helping with pores.

My review

As Silymarin CF is an antioxidant, I applied 2-3 drops of the serum every morning onto cleansed skin. I did not experience any signs of irritation or side effects like dryness or flaking upon use. The only thing I did feel was a slight tingle on the application that soon disappears. I then followed with my Hyaluronic acid serum and an SPF, giving me total protection & hydration for the whole day.

The texture of this serum is incredibly lightweight, not at all greasy and sinks into the skin immediately. It does have that typical ‘cosmeceutical’ vitamin C smell to it, which I don’t mind as I am very much used to it.

As with all antioxidants, you don't necessarily see any results or effects straight away as they will generally be visible a few months down the line. The product is more about the protection it will be providing. The difference with this antioxidant formulation is that it also contains Salicylic acid which is an exfoliant, so it does offer instant exfoliating benefits.

My skin appears brighter, my pores smaller and the pigmentation gained from last summer has also faded. I’m really pleased with the results so far. So even though I haven't got blemish-prone skin, because of the Salicylic acid content it has improved my pores and general complexion overall.

I have always loved SkinCeuticals antioxidants and the results they provide, and I have previously tended to alternate between CE Ferulic & Phloretin CF for my skin care routine. However, now I will be alternating with the Silymarin CF too.

I really like the fact that Silymarin CF provides extra benefits for oily and blemish-prone skin with the added Salicylic acid. Even though I don't have blemish-prone skin, the salicylic acid has clearly benefited my complexion!

I really love this serum! Well done SkinCeuticals for creating another amazing antioxidant serum.
