“My goal is to make products that look good, feel good and are good for the skin” – Jane Iredale

I am so excited that we have recently launched makeup brand Jane Iredale!

The brand began in 1994 by founder Jane Iredale who, originally from London, escaped to New York looking for adventure and excitement and she wasn’t disappointed! As a casting director within the film industry, Jane worked very closely with people’s appearances which in that industry, of course, relied heavily on makeup that covered and stayed on long enough to look good in front of the camera but no one ever cared what it was actually doing to the skin underneath it. One day, Jane then had an idea... “What about makeup that not only looks good but is good for the skin too?” it was then when makeup brand Jane Iredale was born with their very first product and still their best seller today Pure Pressed Base Mineral Foundation.

People were amazed by the makeup’s ability to not only cover but protect and soothe the skin. Everyone loved it as it didn’t feel like heavy makeup; but lightweight, ‘my skin but better’, makeup and not only that – their complexions got better and better with every application. Jane, herself is low maintenance, no-fuss type of lady and wanted that to reflect in her products by being easy to apply, multi-functional while still being able to feel your absolute best in the shortest amount of time possible.

Jane Iredale pledges to always be cruelty-free

Jane Iredale pledges to always be cruelty-free and they have always centred this at the core of the brand. This is recognized by both the Leaping Bunny and PETA for their voluntary commitment to no animal testing at ALL stages of product development and manufacturing. On top of this, the products are also predominantly vegan.

Jane is also a huge believer in supplements, a brand that she regularly recommends is Advanced Nutrition Programme to improve your complexion starting from within.

This brand is definitely a hidden gem

I’m yet to find a product that I don’t like! And with that, I have been trailing different products out for a little while now and I have definitely found the ones that stand out to me the most. See which ones I picked out below...

Longest Lash Thickening Mascara

Jane Iredale Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara

I’m not a mascara type of person usually as they have a tendency to irritate my sensitive eyes and because of this, I would tend to opt for lash extensions or an LVL treatment. If you are reading this during lockdown then, like me, you will most likely be missing these treatments and looking desperately for an alternative! Well, I have been treating my newly lash extension-free, slightly sparser than they were before, lashes to the Jane Iredale Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara when I want that false lash effect and it hasn’t disappointed. My sensitive eyes haven’t felt irritated either. The secret to a great mascara application, in my opinion, is to use eyelashes curlers beforehand. It can transform the straightest pair of lashes. I heat mine up ever so slightly for a few seconds to help to hold the curl in place all day.

swiss clinic eyelash

To add to this, I have also been applying Swiss Clinic Eyelash Growth Serum directly onto the root of my lashes during my nighttime skincare routine for the past few weeks. You do need to wait around at least a month as a minimum until you will start noticing results but I have definitely started too! My lashes appear fuller, stronger and I have experienced less fall out since.

Smooth Affair Primer

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener

Primer is one of those products that people either don’t bother with or couldn’t be without. Personally, I would never skip face primer in my makeup routine or when doing somebody else’s makeup as it does always make such a difference to the longevity of your make up and how it wears throughout the day. Gone are the days when your makeup has disappeared by lunchtime. Primers are designed to be applied after your skincare but a few minutes before any makeup. Every primer provides a different benefit depending on what your skin needs but for Smooth Affair - it’s a multi tasker! Smooth Affair not only increases your makeup lasting power but also hydrates, brightens and smoothes the complexion to create the perfect canvas. It feels really lightweight on the skin and absorbs really quickly too.

Jane Iredale Liquid A Minerals

I am so fussy when it comes to foundations that I will actually wear so a very limited few make it into my collection! My preference is usually something with a soft glow, light-reflecting, lightweight feel and won’t make my t-zone too shiny throughout the day while also being a buildable coverage so that I can adapt it all year round. I’m more prone to use concealer for targeting areas that I want to cover. Liquid A Minerals claims to be a step up from a tinted moisturiser, increasing skin hydration with added time-release technology to deliver continuous hydration all day long and most importantly provide you with a natural, dewy finish and I can most certainly say that it delivers on all of these claims and has been added to my collection. If you love a fuller coverage finish then it might not be for you but nevertheless, take a look at Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream instead.

Jane Iredale Pommisst Hydration Spray

Facial sprays were once a trend that has seemed to have turned into an everyday habit. They are so universal and are now a staple item in a lot of people’s makeup bags. You can use them to set your makeup, on your body, as a light moisturiser, to refresh your skin throughout the day, to cool you down, to intensify eye shadow – the list is endless. I love the smell of Pommisst Spray which makes it a joy to use too. It is a really fine mist which I like as anything too powerful is off-putting. Not just another fancy product, it also has added extracts of pomegranate as well to act as an anti-oxidant and UV defence.

Jane Iredale Active Light Under Eye Concealer

Jane Iredale Active Light Under Eye Concealer

If I had to pick one product I could only use forever it would have to be concealer. It makes SUCH a difference regardless of whether you are experienced at applying makeup or not – from brightening under your eyes, concealing imperfections and blemishes and lifting contours of the face. Active Light Under Eye Concealer is light reflecting with a light to medium coverage and I can really see a difference when I’ve only applied it to one eye. Set with a little Jane Iredale Amazing Matte Loose Powder Finish over the top to prevent any creasing. Cucumber fruit extract also helps to reduce puffiness and inflammation – who doesn’t want that?

Opt for the same colour if you are using it to conceal an area and a shade lighter if you are using it to brighten the skin. If you can’t decide between 2 shades, I would always lean towards the lighter one as you would struggle to work with something too dark. Less is always more under the eye area too!!
