7 Simple Tips for a More Sustainable Skincare Regime

Sustainable skincare is becoming more and more popular and many of the brands for which we are authorised stockists now have their own environmental and eco-friendly initiatives. Brands such as Eminence, Medik8, Revitalash and many more are leading the way.
As an ethically minded company, we at Dermacare use sustainable packaging (99.5% recyclable) when sending out your orders. We do not believe in adding free, useless, environmentally damaging gimmicks to your orders, unlike some of our competitors!

Here are a few tips to help you to reduce the impact your skincare routine has on the environment:

Get expert skincare advice and buy the right skincare products that will work for you.
Do you have a bathroom cabinet full of skincare products that do not work or just did not suit you? To avoid buying unnecessary products or products that may not work, seek professional skincare advice to ensure sure you are buying the correct products for your particular skin type or concern. Speak to one of our skincare experts or take our skincare test.

Reduce your water usage
When washing your face, turn off the water tap when you don’t need it to help reduce water wastage. You could try cleansers like Teoxane or Dermaceutic Oxybiome Micellar Water or Medik8 Eyes & Lips Micellar Cleanse, which require no water for your cleansing routine.

Buy from the UK
If you choose UK skincare Brands like DermaTx & Medik8, you will be helping cut down on transport routes and times, and therefore carbon emissions.

Recycle products and packaging
Most of your empty skincare packaging, including outer boxes, tubes and bottles can be recycled in your green or recycling bins at home. Make sure empties are rinsed briefly first if required.

Never buy products that contain microplastics and micro-beads

Make sure your products do not contain micro-beads - tiny particles of plastic that are very harmful to the environment. They are not recyclable and end up polluting the oceans for hundreds of years affecting all marine life, fish and animals.

Opt for multi-purpose products
Reducing the number of products we buy and use helps reduce the amount of packaging we waste. Why not try a daytime moisturiser with built-in SPF or a lip and cheek stain, or a powder foundation rather than using a separate foundation and powder. How much product are you using?
Remember with cosmeceutical skincare products that contain active ingredients, you do not need to use a lot, as a small amount of product goes a long way!
Not only are you saving the planet from waste, but you are saving money as well! Take a look at our blog post.
