It’s time to correct that summer damage and prepare your skin for winter.
Here are our Top Autumn Skincare Tips…
Tip #1 EXFOLIATE EXFOLIATE EXFOLIATE
Exfoliation helps to remove the dead skin cells on the outer surface of the skin, which stimulates the growth of new elastic fibers & collagen in the deep basal cell layer of the dermis. These new cells are plumper, firmer and have more moisture. Revealing newer skin underneath that has a healthy and radiant glow because it has not been exposed to the elements.
Chemical exfoliators contain alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic acid and salicylic acid, beta hydroxy acids or retinoic acid (retinol).
These exfoliates can be found in a variety of skincare products like cleansers, moisturises and treatment products.
Tip #2 Hydrate from inside and out
Over-exposure of the skin during the summer may mean that it’s suffering from dehydration. The moisture lost needs to be properly supplemented before the onset of winter. Moisturise at least twice daily after cleansing. Dry, normal and combination skin types may use a light serum, gel or lotion. For drier skin types, choose a thicker cream based moisturiser meant for dry skin.
Look for moisturisers that contains Hyaluronic acid, as it gives the skin a serious moisture boost.
Mask has a deeply hydrating effect on application and continues to work overnight so that you start the day with a visibly plumped, nourished complexion; free from crepey fine lines, flakiness, tightness and general discomfort that are all associated with dehydration.
Hydrating masks are one of the best ways to infuse your skin with much needed moisture.
Tip #3 PROTECT –SPF is for Life, not just for Summer
Don't forget sunscreen, yes even in autumn. The warm weather may have gone, but the sun’s UV rays are still there no matter what the temperature is.
Use a high SPF sunscreen on your face all year round to avoid early signs of ageing such as dry, wrinkled and loose skin OR something worse like skin cancer.
Delivers broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection, with a powerful antioxidant component, and a superb hydrating complex.
