Medik8 Hydr8 B5

I have wanted to try Medik8 Hydr8 B5 for the longest time and it did not disappoint. I have had a flare up of sensitized skin which then I have the repercussions of my skin becoming very dry, tight and flakey in certain areas. I had high hope for this serum to help my skin retain moisture and I was very impressed.

I found the texture really nice to use, it does not feel sticky at all and glides onto the skin beautifully. The consistency is quite thin and fluid, meaning it soaked pretty instantly into my skin and my skin did not feel tacky. The serum is lightweight which I loved, I was happy to follow with a vitamin C, moisturiser and SPF without my skin feeling too heavy.

I used this in the morning and evening initially, as I had very dry, flakey areas of skin that needed some extra care. After one week I decided to use just in the morning as it suited the remainder of my routine better.

I think it is easy to use too much of the product as it soaks in to the skin so quickly. Another reason I switched to using once per day. I was mindful of only using 5 drops upon each application, and less if I was only applying to my face and not my neck and décolletage as well.

When using, I cleansed my skin and then applied Hydr8 B5 immediately after using a hydrating mist over my skin each morning. This was then followed with a vitamin C serum, moisturiser and an SPF 50 to complete my morning routine.  Be sure to apply this before any oil based products to ensure maximum absorption into the skin as Hydr8 B5 is a water based serum.

When I used this in the evening, I double cleansed, sprayed a hydrating mist and then layered Hydr8 B5 over the top. The mist is not necessary to use for all, I applied this as my skin was very dry and flakey and needed the moisture content. After using Hydr8 B5 I followed with my serum and eye product and then my evening moisturiser to finish my routine. 

Overall, if your skin is in need of some extra hydration, this serum is such a perfect addition to your routine. Easy to use with other products and absorbs quickly and effectively into the skin, without leaving a sticky residue. I will most definitely purchase this and have it as a regular staple in my skincare, especially as we go into the colder seasons.
