Make-up Spring Favourites

Spring Favourites - Make-up

It is officially the first day of spring!

Hasn’t winter felt never ending this year? The weather is slowly but surely picking up and long, warm days don’t feel too far away any more. As far as makeup is concerned during spring, for me, I think it’s all about lighter textures and glowy finishes. It feels like a very transitional time as we start to drop the super rich moisturisers and full coverage bases that we used from winter for something slightly more sheer. Even if we may not be wearing makeup as much or as often for now, it definitely makes putting it on feel like more of a luxurious treat, doesn’t it?

Let’s kick start spring with a mix of trustworthy, cult products but also mentioning tried & tested new, stand-out products that I love and will be swapping to during this spring time. Why not use this as a time to spring clean your makeup bag, refresh with some newbies and update the products which you may have had for a little too long.....

delilah Under Wear Future Resist Foundation Primer

PRIMER delilah Under Wear Future Resist Foundation Primer

I say this ALL the time but skin preparation is so important and it makes such an impact to your overall base. Of course, skincare is the ultimate skin prep, but when makeup is concerned primer is the secret which takes it to the next level. Under Wear is delilah’ No.1 best selling product and when I first tried it I soon realised why! The rose gold packaging is so elegant and the pump makes application an ease. It feels instantly refreshing on the skin and once blended into the complexion it absorbs quickly and the skin feels delicately soft. Afterwards, you can guarantee makeup which applies easier, lasts longer and most importantly- looks great. Plus, you have the added bonus of Peptides included in the formula which improve the structure of the skin!

Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals A Foundation

FOUNDATION Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals A Foundation

This product is like spring in a bottle. I’ve mentioned it within blogs so many times before but you know you love it when you reach for it immediately when applying makeup. It is a foundation with a built in serum to intensely hydrate the skin, a light reflecting finish but also providing buildable coverage (however up to around a medium coverage- not full) – it’s just what you want and it has really stood out to me. It has a dewy finish and will plump even the most dehydrated of skins. This is the foundation that you’ll find me wearing for the next couple of months.

delilah Take Cover Radiant Cream Concealer

CONCEALER delilah Take Cover Radiant Cream Concealer

For the most part, concealer is all I have actually been wearing every day so when choosing my staple item I needed something completely universal and long-wearing. I don’t particularly wear much concealer on my complexion and I would like to put that down to a really good, consistent skincare regime but I do get the odd rogue blemish which needs camouflaging and I also like to brighten under my eyes and that is why I have been reaching for Take Cover which does both of these tasks for me without trouble. It blends out seamlessly and doesn’t settle into fine lines or crease under the eyes.

Colorescience Pressed Mineral Illuminator - Morning Glow

CHEEKS Colorescience Pressed Mineral Illuminator – Morning Glow

There’s two cheek favourites that I wanted to put in the spotlight as ultimately I can’t pick just one but they are totally different in their own right – a cream and a powder. For cream, I don’t think you can beat Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Colour Balm. It is the easiest one that I have used. It is easily built up, easy to blend and handbag friendly as well for any lunchtime touch ups. A bonus too that it can also be doubled up on the lips. But for powder, I am obsessed with Morning Glow. Sweep it lightly over the complexion – focusing on the cheek area - and it creates a soft, healthy glow that looks gorgeous when the sunlight catches you. I love the shimmery dusty pink shade too which you could also incorporate as a blusher.

Hydropeptide Perfecting Lip Gloss - Nude Pearl

LIPS Hydropeptide Perfecting Lip Gloss – Nude Pearl

Lip glosses always feel so spring/summer like to me and Nude Pearl is the perfect nude (as the name suggests!). I think because they have the light reflecting, easy going, natural looking properties which we crave from make up this time of year. I tend to wear the same handful of lipsticks throughout the year and for me, this works. When I first started in beauty, I felt the need to have every colour under the sun, but now I’ve learnt what works for me and I focus on the shades I truly love and Nude Pearl is one that I always come back to year after year. But not just a pretty shade, this gloss helps to improve and boost hydration, lip plumpness and fullness too.

Revitalash Double Ended Primer and Mascara

EYES Revitalash Double Ended Mascara & Primer

I can’t be the only one who likes to keep it simple on the eyes during spring? I don’t even want to think about the hay fever which is yet to come but, for me, it never feels right to have a full eye look on during these months. This award winning, highly reviewed product from Revitalash features both a vivid black mascara on one end to create fluttery, separated lashes which ‘pop’ instantly but also a primer on the other end to use beforehand which helps to condition fragile lashes and allows for buildable application, volume and unbelievable length.

However, it’s a different story when it comes to evenings and I am all for an ultra-glam smoky eye and I have recently been reaching for delilah Colour Intense Eyeshadow Palette – Jezebel. It is an absolutely beautiful palette and the pigments in the colours are ridiculously good.

delilah Brow Line - Retractable Eye Brow Pencil with Brush

BROWS delilah Brow Line & Brow Shape

How you like your brows is pretty personal, isn’t it? For me, I like to go for a soft, fluffy brow while still looking defined. My aim when using any products is to fill in spare areas and to create two symmetrical eyebrows as opposed to looking like I have had to put a ton of product on. Personally, I couldn’t decide between these two because, for me, they go hand in hand together. Brow Line uses its precise, ultra-fine nib to fill in spare areas with hair-like strokes very easily. While Brow Shape acts as a light hairspray to hold any unruly hairs in place while also providing the appearance of a fresh tint every day. I have black coloured eyebrows and Sable works perfect for me.

There you more or less have a full spring makeover! I would most likely add a little Jane Iredale Peaches & Cream Bronzer too for some warmth on my forehead and cheeks.

We would love to hear what your favourites are for spring time! Do you go against the norm? Let us know on our social platforms or email me on [email protected].
